The Reliance Jio is going to be launched soon and guess what there is a lot of hype surrounding it. We will find out here whether they are for the right or wrong reasons. So, when it all began, only the employees were given the opportunity to try out the 4G LTE network, and then the SIM is being bundled with brand new Lyf devices. Recently, they started with the free preview offer and it selects Samsung devices. People who do not have their hands on the Samsung smartphones are keen to know how to own a Reliance Jio SIM.
Sometime back TelecomTalk had mentioned in a story that some Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 users are noticing the “Get Jio Sim” screen on their smartphones. But we have not noticed the same despite trying the same. So, we tried to go for various methods and came to the conclusion that there is a deterrent in the MyJio app in the form of a bug. Jio Code Generate is a process that gets enabled and you are not required to queue up for a Reliance Digital store.
We aren’t quite sure whether Jio accepts this code and helps give out free SIM, but chances are they ask for the code screenshot and does not ask you to divulge the phone details.
So, here are the steps to generate Jio code, and click on the “Get Jio Sim” button on My Jio app. If you are still clueless, take a look at the following steps,
Step 1: If you have already installed the My Jio apps, go ahead and uninstall them first.
Step 2: Once uninstalled, try installing the My Jio app again.
Step 3: Next, click on the Install All button so, you can install all the 10 Jio apps. Exit from the My Jio app.
Step 4: Disconnect from all networks, that is WiFi and Mobile data.
Step 5: Next, open the My Jio app, and click on the “Open” button, next to your My Jio. It would throw up a “No internet connection” error on the top. It opens the Login screen, and there you’d notice another button, Get Jio Sim button.
Step 6: Click on the button and it’d throw up an error that the internet is not available. Now, you can switch back your WiFi and tap back so that you get the login screen again.
All these steps work well on all phones, such as Redmi, Mi max and OnePlus 3. It does not work on the iPhone 6s though.
It holds true for all the Jio apps and restarts your device. Next, wait for another 5-10 minutes, turn on the data and open the My Jio app.
Both these methods are almost like a bug in the My Jio app rather than a feature, but it's not illegal. The Jio Preview Offer which has 3 months unlimited data, calls, and entertainment services are associated with Lyf and Samsung devices only. Here, the store guys may insist the offer code and will be generated on these devices itself. There no technical restrictions, as the Jio Sim which is offered for Samsung is already unlocked. So if you are able to get your SIM activated, it will work for any devices such as any 4G and VoLTE enabled device. But you may be returned from the store.
A fresh new update is to update to MyJio app (24th July) and it has managed to fix the bug. Here are some of the steps to generate the Jio Code.
